Model 10536 1/2" Diameter Heavy-Duty Single Carbon Handpiece

10536

User Information and Instruction Sheet
Summary: Resistance heat is obtained by passing a safe, low voltage, high amperage current through a resistive alloy. As with all Resistance Soldering Handpieces, heat is generated local to the work-piece. As with all Resistance Soldering Handpieces, heat is generated local to the work-piece. Current is present for only so long as power is applied to the Handpiece and there is a path for the current from the Power Unit, through the Handpiece and back to the Power Unit.
Description: Heavy-Duty Single Carbon Electrode Handpiece. Supplied with one 1/2" x 3” (12.7 mm x 76.2 mm) copper-clad carbon electrode. This Handpiece also features a heavy-duty bakelite handle and heat baffles for comfortable operator handling and is equipped with a four-foot (1.22 m) 6 AWG high-stranded DLO cable with a 3/8” ring terminal for attaching to the output bolts on the front of the recommended Power Units.
  • This Handpiece should not be operated above 1,000 watts.
  • Maximum wattage that is shown reflects a 20-second maximum allowable heating duration. For shorter heating durations, higher wattages may be allowable.
  • This handpiece requires a Model 10537 grounding (current-return) lead to complete electrical circuit.
Uses: This American Beauty® Soldering Handpiece will instantly provide intense localized heat, to create accurate, trustworthy solder joints in large pieces of metal for lower temperature soldering applications, or in smaller pieces for higher temperature soldering and low-temperature brazing (1150º F (621º C) maximum). It was developed to introduce intense heat to a single localized point of contact. It may be used for heavy-duty applications in automotive parts remanufacturing, or for medium to heavy-duty electrical equipment manufacture, rework or repair. It may also be used for soldering seams, or for soldering in areas, which may be inaccessible to Tweezer Style Handpieces.

Please reference the General Operating Instructions for American Beauty® Resistance Soldering Systems for more detailed operating instructions and guidelines.

Recommended Power Units: The following American Beauty® Power Units, may be used with these Handpieces: Model 105C1 (1800 Watt). Model 105C2 (1800 Watt; portable (requires the use of a model 10518 foot-switch to actuate Power Unit)). Model 105D1 (3000 Watt). The use of a Footswitch (Model 10519) for ease of heating time adjustment and control is highly recommended.
Replacement Electrodes/Elements: Model 10534 Single Carbon Electrode (1/2” X 3” (12.7 mm X 76.2 mm)) (Pkg. of 6)

NOTE: Always keep electrodes clean and free from burnt flux and solder residue by dressing them with a piece of emery cloth, a fine file or a small wire brush. Replace electrodes that have become too short or badly burnt.

WARNING: Electrodes generate significant heat when power is applied. Use with caution to avoid burns, fire or other damage. Normal use of this product is likely to expose the user to solders containing lead, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects (or other reproductive harm) or other Proposition 65 listed chemicals
